Convert date to text

Some time when you paste the string 2-1, Excel converts it to date format and appends a year, and it becomes Feb-1. Is there a way in Kutools for excel that converts the cell content and format to text only.
Currently I create an adjacent column add the function

=TEXT(A1, "m-d")
